There are many good reasons to visit Villa Luotikka. Perhaps the most compelling is
the lake view and the tranquil location.
The Luotikas (the open lake area in front of the cottage) is part of an old shipping route which runs
from the Sysmä town to lake Päijänne, which is less than 2km by boat from the cottage.
The property is situated in a sunny position and the sunrise over the Luotikas is simply glorious.
Location
Villa Luotikka is conveniently located 6km from the local village, Sysmä, where all essential shops
can be found – grocery stores, fuel station, liquor store, pharmacy, sports shop, bank, and more.
The driving time from Helsinki airport is approximately 2 hours.
Lahti town is approximately one hour’s drive away and offers more extensive shopping and
entertainment opportunities – retail, fashion, restaurants, cinema, and more. The “sickeningly” high
ski jump at the Lahti Sports Centre is also well worth a visit.
The scenic village of Vääksy, approximate 45 minutes by car, has one of the busiest canals in
Finland with a lock which connects the two lakes, Vesijärvi and Päijänne.
Accommodation
The cottage was built in 2011 to a high standard for permanent, all-seasons residence. For the
cold months, energy efficient underfloor heating is provided by a ground-source heat system (on the
lakebed) and maintains a consistent temperature and warm feet. There is also an air-source heat
pump (air conditioning unit) for cooling and heating.
There are 3 bedrooms: one downstairs with a double bed; and two upstairs – one with two single
beds and the other with a single and a double. There is also a sofa bed on the upstairs mezzanine.
Bookings are limited to a maximum of 6 adults.
The kitchen is well equipped, including an induction stove, electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer,
coffee machine and dishwasher. There are plenty dishes, cutlery, and crockery for all purposes. An
adjacent grill hut offers a covered space for outdoor cooking with a choice of an electric, gas or coal
barbeque, as well as running water and an outdoor table with seating.
For many visitors, the Finnish sauna is an important attraction. The lakefront sauna, with shower
and toilet facilities, offers the traditional sauna experience close to the lake. An additional electric
sauna is available inside the cottage making it possible to sauna in all seasons and weather
conditions. The cottage also has an indoor shower, WC, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Working remotely has become popular in recent times, and even more so during the coronavirus crisis.
Villa Luotikka is well suited for working remotely with 4G connectivity and WLAN / WiFi throughout the cottage
Rental periods
During peak summer, Villa Luotikka is offered on a weekly basis, from Friday 16h00 to Friday 12h00.
For the rest of the year, rental periods can be priced around weekends, or extended weekends. On request,
we can quote a price for any required duration, depending on availability.

For reservations made long in advance (more than 30 days), a 25% reservation fee is
payable to secure your booking. This applies only to rent amounts greater than €700.
The full rental amount should be paid 30 days before the date of arrival, or at time of
booking if less than 30 days before date of arrival.
In addition to the rent, there is a final cleaning charge of €120 (€70 for 1-2 visitors).
Linen and towels can be provided at an additional charge of €15 per person (or you can
bring your own).There are no other charges
